Dear Passengers is the co-op game where you and up to three friends run the world's worst airline, and it has become one of the most wishlisted games on Steam. The developer, FLEXUS, says it passed 2 million Steam wishlists within weeks of its reveal and climbed into the top 6 of Steam's most-wishlisted chart, with no paid marketing.
So when is the Dear Passengers release date, is it coming to PS5 or Xbox, and how many friends can play? Here's everything that's confirmed, straight from the Steam page and FLEXUS's own Q&A, with rumours and guesses kept out.
Last checked: 12 October 2026.
Dear Passengers release date: is there one yet?
No, not yet. The Steam page lists the game as coming in 2026, but in its official Q&A on 2 October 2026, FLEXUS said it can't share a release month or year yet:
"The goal right now is to ensure that we deliver the highest quality... so when we're confident in the progress of the game we'll share more solid information."
So treat "2026" as a target, not a promise, and ignore any exact launch date you see on unofficial sites. The quickest way to hear the real date is to wishlist it on Steam or follow the Dear Passengers page on PlaySpill, where it'll show the moment Steam updates.
What is the Dear Passengers game?
Dear Passengers is a co-op action game on Steam from FLEXUS, who are both the developer and publisher. Its own pitch: "Your plane is falling apart, your cargo is illegal, and passenger safety barely makes the list."
Here's how a flight works, based on the official Steam description:
- One player flies the plane. FLEXUS has confirmed you fully control the plane yourself.
- Everyone else runs the cabin. Serve food and drinks, keep passengers under control, protect the cargo and fix whatever is going wrong before it gets worse.
- Pick your passengers and cargo before take-off. The bigger the payout, the more trouble it usually causes. Some cargo is hard to handle, and some passengers are hard to please.
- Survive the weather. Turbulence and air pockets throw passengers, luggage and anything loose around the cabin.
- Physics-based chaos. Passengers, cargo and the cabin itself all react to physics, which is where the funniest moments come from.
The game's tagline sums it up: "Safety is our top-3 priority."
Why people call it "the friendslop plane game"
"Friendslop" is the nickname gamers use for chaotic, cheap-to-start co-op games that are at their best with a group of friends shouting at each other. Think Lethal Company or R.E.P.O. When Dear Passengers was revealed, GamingOnLinux wrote that it "could be the next huge 'friendslop' hit", and searches for "friendslop plane game" have climbed since.

How many players can play Dear Passengers?
Up to 4 players for now. In the Q&A, FLEXUS said four is "currently the maximum" and that it's trying to support bigger lobbies, but can't confirm that for launch.
Good news for smaller groups: 2-player games are fully supported. FLEXUS says it's designed to be "equally enjoyable and chaotic with 2 players as it is with 4". Steam also lists single-player.
Can you play with randoms?
You can definitely join friends with an invite or a lobby code. Public matchmaking with strangers is being considered, but isn't confirmed for release.
Is Dear Passengers coming to PS5 or Xbox?
Not confirmed. Right now it's only announced for PC on Steam. FLEXUS said it's focusing on the Steam release, and would be "more than happy to explore" other platforms if there's enough demand.
So there's no Dear Passengers PS5 or Xbox version, release date or crossplay announced yet. If your group mixes PC and console players, wait for an official announcement before planning a session.
Controller and HOTAS support
- Controller support: planned.
- HOTAS (flight sticks): no plans for full support right now.
This isn't a realistic flight simulator. The controls are built so anyone in your group can take a turn in the cockpit.
Dear Passengers price
Not announced. FLEXUS says it isn't ready to reveal the price, but is "aiming to keep it in line with other similar games within the genre". Wait for the official figure before you plan a group purchase.
Is there a Dear Passengers demo or playtest?
There's no public demo yet. FLEXUS says it's planning closed tests before release and is announcing them on its Discord. You'll find the link on the official Dear Passengers website. An official gameplay video is also in production.
